Oh - Ja is a collaborative effort on behalf of 3 Ohio musicians (Alex Smith, Steve Kortyka and Paul Francis) and features the amazing guitarist Daisuke Abe from Tokorozawa, Saitama in Japan. These musicians met in New York and have each contributed 2 songs/arrangements to round out what is unarguably a solid and sound musical statement. Recorded in August of 2012, this album was part of an Ohio tour completed around the same time where the opportunity to perform these songs nightly over the course of several days. This afforded them the experience of getting to know the tunes intimately and opened up new avenues of exploration throughout each song.
